“Our mountain, our sea, our sunrise, our heart, our soul, our everything. He taught us so much, ”Mikaela Shiffrin wrote in social media as her 65-year-old father quickly passed away.

According to American skiracing.com, he is said to have died after an accident at his home in Colorado.

- I hope she is back soon. She has been the best and it is more fun when she is with. Although she is damn hard to beat, Swenn Larsson tells SVT Sport and continues:

- I understand that she is fucking tough, my God. It's horrible what she's going through. It can't be easy to be her I think, with everything around.

Although Mikaela Shiffrin missed four racing weekends and a total of eight competitions, she ranks second after Italian Federica Brignone in the overall World Cup. Two competition weekends remain: Åre and the World Cup final in Cortina, both broadcast in SVT (see times here).

This weekend's races (slalom and grand slalom) in Ofterschwang were canceled due to lack of snow.
