In his speech today, Tuesday, at the General Assembly (UEFA Congress) held in Amsterdam, UEFA President Alexander Severin called for UEFA to ensure that football does not lose its soul.

In the presence of Gianni Infantino, FIFA president who launched a controversial modified version of the FIFA Club World Cup with 24 teams starting in 2021, with great financial support, Slovenian Severin made his remarks, which seemed to criticize Infantino.

"The goal is first, then profit. This is the basis. When the verse is reflected, the alarm must be sounded," Severin said.

He ruled out making major changes in the prominent championships of UEFA, including the Champions League, considering that this would constitute an "execution" for sport.

On what he sees as a current threat to the future course of the ball, Severin said at a press conference after the meeting that he is not completely satisfied with the assistant video governance (var) system and feels that he needs to develop.

Severin also criticized the amendments to the laws on hand-touch, saying it was not clear.

Severin said that a meeting was held for a number of coaches, including Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool coach and Zinedine Zidane (Real), and after presenting a snapshot that included a hand touch, the coaches ’opinions differed about their eligibility.

UEFA chief suggested that the line used by the video rulers be thicker, so that infiltration calculation decisions are not significantly arbitrary.

It is noteworthy that the International Football Association Council (IFAP) on the enactment of the laws of the game did not make any changes to the Far system at its annual meeting, which was held in Belfast last Saturday.
