However, the country's government will work closely with all relevant groups to ensure that the virus outbreak does not affect the Olympics and the subsequent Paralympics, says Japan's Prime Minister Shinzo Abe
"We will be in close contact with everyone, including the International Olympic Committee and the World Health Organization, to take appropriate action," says Abe.
The corona virus, whose outbreak started in Wuhan, China, has so far caused over 360 deaths and has spread to many countries. In Japan, so far 20 have been affected by the virus.
