This is the fifth time Djokovic has become a world player and he is now starting his 276th week on the tennis stand.

"It's no secret, this is one of the biggest goals I have," Djokovic said after the final victory over Austrian Dominic Thiem in Melbourne.

On the women's side, Sofia Kenin won after a sensational effort. The American had not even been to a Grand Slam quarterfinals before coming to Melbourne but well there she beat Venezuelan Garbine Muguruza by 2-1 in the set.

An effort that not only gave the trophy but also a big step in the rankings where Kenin stepped eight places and made her land in seventh place.

Which makes the 21-year-old American the youngest in the top ten rankings since Serena Williams in 1999.

And speaking of just Williams, she remains in place nine after her assortment in the third round. Kenin has thus passed his own idol.
