Charlotte Kalla had a heavy time in the Tour de Ski and was in 16th place in the overall summary for the monster climb in Alpe Cermis today.

There, the Swede tightened the bow properly and was at the bottom of the hill at a seventh place in the mass start.

The 32-year-old went with Astrid Uhrenholdt Jacobsen and Katharina Hennig. The trio lost a little at the end and in goal was the Swede eleven, two minutes and fifteen seconds after the great Therese Johaug. In the total she eventually became twelve and best Swedish.

Fell and broke the rod

After the climb, Kalla told her that she fell and broke the stick during the course of the competition - something the TV viewers missed. Then she had to finish the climb with two different rods.

- I happened to get down on my knees and broke my own stick. I was on her (Jacobsen's) stick there and came out of balance. It was a Finnish leader who was kind and gave me a stick, she tells SVT Sport and continues.

- I wanted to get out the forces that were left and that is the chance in such a climb in Alpe Cermis.

How do you sum up this tour?

- Yeah, I don't know what to say. I've given what I've had every day, but the season is long and even though this was one of my big goals this championship-free season, it's just to land and accept where you are right now. There has been more power and timing in the riding earlier in the season. But it was not this week.
