Arsenal was the best team in the opening and opened with a speed and a frenzy that has not been seen on Emirates during Unai Emery. Even Mezut Özil was willing to run.

A shocked Chelsea had a hard time managing Arsenal's initial pace and could only look on when Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang nodded 1-0 already in the 14th minute.

"As good as Mezut Özil has been in the first half, I literally haven't seen him for years and days," commented Erik Niva in the Viasat studio.

But away team and coach Frank Lampard managed to regroup through an early substitution of Emerson in the 34th minute.

Hard minutes for Arsenal

Chelsea started the second half considerably better and pushed Arsenal higher up while the home team also took a more defensive starting position.

But the clear goal chances shone with their absence. Chelsea Tammy Abraham had a chance to take the lead on 75 minutes, but was unable to get the go-ahead goal or put it behind Bernard Leno in the Arsenal goal.

First loss

But Leno would play a crucial role in Chelsea's receipt. In the 84th minute he missed boxing a Chelsea free kick. Instead, Jorginho easily put the ball away 1-1.

But the Arsenal misery was not over there. Four minutes later Willian Tammy found Abraham in the penalty area and the striker could easily turn away an Arsenal back, found the gap between the legs of Leno and rolled in 1-2 for the away team which also became the final score.

The loss was Mikael Artetas only since he took over as head coach after Fredrik Ljungberg and the team's third in the last five games.
