Manchester City are fighting feverishly to try to compete in league-leading Liverpool in English league football. The reigning champion has fallen behind and - just like in so many other matches - had to win away against Wolverhampton in order not to lose even more ground in the table.

However, the meeting at Molineux Stadium became a snowy story for the light blue. And that after a parody-like first half.

First, City goalkeeper Ederson got red shortly after cutting a free-kick. Then the match was eleven minutes old. 13 minutes later, City received a penalty. Raheem Sterling stepped forward, fired - but Rui Patricio saved. However, the penalty went around after the Wolves goalkeeper was considered to have left the goal line too soon. New punishment, new chance for Sterling - and yet another rescue of Patricio. The return, however, ended up with Sterling who could push in 1-0.

The English national team then increased to 2-0 in the 50th minute and looked to fix City's third straight victory.

However, this evening belonged to Wolverhampton.

The home team reduced to 1-2 in the 55th and also received a receipt to 2-2 in the 82nd after nonchalant defense play by Benjamin Mendy. In the 89th minute, the turn was completed when Matt Doherty beautifully put 3-2.

The result means City are 14 points behind Liverpool with a match more played.
