Prof. Wataru Matsuda from Nagoya University, who was nominated as a professional player from Sino-Japan, signed a temporary contract with the team.
The pitcher Matsuda, who belonged to the volleyball club until high school, started playing hard baseball since he entered Nagoya University.
In the draft meeting held last month, it was nominated as the first place for training from the middle day and became the first nominated player from Nagoya University.
On May 11, pitcher Matsuda negotiated with Yukio Matsunaga, general manager of the team, and agreed to join the group with a provisional contract of 2 million yen and an annual salary of 3 million yen.
The place where the negotiations were held was a Chinese restaurant in Nagoya city where Chinese players have been attending for about 40 years and are popular among fans.
This was realized by pitching Matsuda pitcher from Iwakura City, Aichi Prefecture with the idea of “being a player loved by the local community”.
Pitcher Matsuda said, “I was surprised to negotiate at such a place, but since I was nominated for a local team, I would like to become a beloved player.”
