• Alemany. "What is the best for Valencia?"
  • About Marcelino "The projects are not dismantled in two months"

A dismissal that has been weeping for weeks among Valencianism. Since Marcellin's departure, the hours of Mateu Alemany as general director in Valencia were numbered. Neither President Anil Murthy wanted him in the club nor the Mallorcan to be part of a project in which he had nothing to contribute. Of course, although the exit agreement has been bashed for almost two weeks, Alemany has had to travel to Singapore to meet Peter Lim in person before his dismissal was officially announced in a statement that reads as follows:

"Valencia CF wishes to publicly express its gratitude to Mateu Alemany in recognition of his enormous dedication, effort and achievements throughout his time at the entity and wishes him the best of luck in his professional career"

Alemany leaves the club after he was hired in March 2017 to straighten the direction of a drifting club. Lim was going to change President LayHoon for Anil Murthy and, accumulated three years of failures, he needed an executive who knew the League and set up a project to seat the team in Champions, the maximum and almost single goal of Lim.

Javier Tebas' recommendation to bet on the Mallorcan could not be better. Alemany convinced Marcelino to accept the bench, they became a tandem with almost perfect rapport and had the unconditional support of the club. Thus they achieved two classifications for Champions and a Copa del Rey , a new title after 11 years of drought. But, above all, they gave the club stability lost years ago.

Alemany negotiated contracts, assignments, supported the workforce and helped increase its market value. All adjusting to the reluctant economy of a club that still lives in red numbers. However, these movements raised misgivings among the people to whom Peter Lim has entrusted the surveillance of his investment: Anil Murthy and the advisor Kim Koh.

At the meeting in Singapore, the idea that the former director general was carrying was to be able to clarify to Lim all possible misunderstandings that have come close to his management, and confirm that, at this time, his coexistence with the two leaders of the confidence of the maximum shareholder was impossible.

Future

Alemany had a contract that linked him to the club until June 2020 , with a clause that forced him to compensate with his salary if he left before and that prevented him from signing for another football club until at least one season after leaving Valencia.

Given the inability of the parties to continue living together and the will to seek a way out, Alemany leaves without compensation, without charging as of today and with the doors open to sign for another club next season. One of those interested could be FC Barcelona .

The possibility that he ends up being a LaLiga executive under Tebas is also on the table, since next month the finance director, Javier Gómez, will leave, although the Mallorcan profile is less technical.
