LONDON (Reuters) - Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp said on Monday that his team would not allow themselves to distract their attention at the upcoming Manchester City summit, stressing that they were only focusing on the Belgian champions in the Champions League tomorrow.

Liverpool host leaders Manchester City on Sunday and hope to use the game to increase their current gap to more than six points.

European champions Liverpool are second in their group, one point behind Napoli before hosting Gnk at Anfield.

"I don't think about the City match and I don't have to talk about it with the players," Klopp told reporters.

"We have great ambitions in the Champions League, and this group is very close," he said.

"I have no doubt about the Liverpool players at all. I would feel a bit embarrassed if I told them not to worry about Manchester City."

Klopp also responded to City manager Pep Guardiola, who accused Liverpool striker Sadio Mane of claiming to fall into the penalty area following Saturday's win over Aston Villa.

Liverpool won the GNC 4-1 in the last round but Klopp said he would "respect" the Belgian side, who want to finish third in the group to qualify for the knockout rounds.

"The group is still wide open and we need to win every point. They still have a chance to qualify for the Europa League. So the game is important for them. We have to respect this team."
