The Nissan Juke has ceased to be the 'thug' of the class. He has grown, matured and made the best of himself, avoiding stridency but maintaining all his passionate style and charm. The great proof is that it retains its signature style, the two large round headlights of its front that, since its birth in 2009, symbolize the unique character of the urban crossover of the Japanese brand. In addition, it gains muscle and is made with 19-inch wheels (in option and in the higher versions) to continue offering an imposing presence on the asphalt.

The Juke has improved almost everywhere you look. But two facts clearly illustrate how he has done it. Now it is 15% faster, doing 0-100 km / h in just 10.4 seconds , but at the same time reducing its emissions up to 30% with the new automatic double clutch and seven gears (the other change available it is a manual of six relations). That duality of maintaining a rebellious spirit accompanied by a greater common sense, is its new general tonic and is found wherever you analyze it.

In the two sections that we did with the manual change we marked a consumption of 7.0 liters / 100 kilometers

Its 'heart' is a single 1.0-liter 3-cylinder petrol engine with a turbocharger that continues to offer the agile response customers expect from a Juke. It offers 117 horsepower - two more than in the previous generation - and 180 Nm of torque that can reach 200 Nm when the Overboost comes into operation. According to Nissan, consumption has improved to 4.8 l / 100 km in NEDC cycle with automatic transmission . Our test was composed of two initial sections of about 100 km with the manual transmission, in which we made 7.0 and 7.1 liters per hundred, according to the on-board computer.

In addition, there were other sections of 50 and 40 km with the automatic 7-speed DCT, in which the consumptions were 7.0 and 6.8 l / 100 km respectively . Both routes were mixed in which we tried to know the response of the highway, county road, mountain route and part of the city. CO2 emissions have also been reduced, being in the entire Juke range below 120 g / km (NEDC).

It grows in all its dimensions

The vehicle grows in all its dimensions: 2.9 cm wide (1.80 meters), 7.5 cm long (4.21 m.) And 1.3 cm high (1.59 m.) While Its wheelbase is extended by no less than 10.5 cm to 2.63 meters. This growth is noticeable in the now spacious interior, especially in the rear seats in which the knee space has been increased by 5.8 cm and the head space by 1.1 cm.

The width seemed somewhat fairer in the front seats. The steering wheel, whose position is modified in height and depth, has a more vertical design and the lever and the hoop are closer to offer a more natural driving. On the other hand, its trunk grows by 20% premiering 422 liters of capacity and, not least, the redesign of the gate, the pilots and the rest of the rear now facilitate a wider and more comfortable loading mouth.

The Juke has not lost one of its hallmarks: its great dynamic behavior

On the other hand, the 23 kilos of total weight that you have lost, thanks to the use of new materials, in addition to making your torsional stiffness increase by 13%, improve your consumption, but you also feel your dynamics, like than its new optimized suspension geometry.

The Juke could not lose another of its main hallmarks, its great dynamic behavior . It remains the same or more agile (it has gained two CVs of power), with an engine that responds with claw and decision to the accelerator pedal, accompanied by a very direct direction in its response.

The manual change seemed excellent to us with a reduced lever of short movements, with a final mouthpiece between gears to give security to the movement and very close to the steering wheel. The automatic seemed somewhat slower despite its cams behind the wheel, perfect for day to day and specific moments of sports driving , but does not reach the benefits of his 'brother'.

Other improvements are inside, very immersive, with a floating touch screen of 8 inches from the finish Acenta (20,850) that follows the Visia (19,900), which is the entrance to the range. The Acenta in turn is followed by the N-Connecta (22,400) and two of 24,550 called Tekna, in which technology prevails, and N-Design, in which customization options prevail.

Total connectivity

All prices increase the cost of the Juke by 1,500 compared to the previous generation (completely sold out), which are justified by a high added value not only for its equipment, materials, technology ... but also for its dynamics. We loved its sports bacquet imitation seats, perfect for everyday life and that ideally collect the body when we want to go fast . It has three driving modes, which allow you to optimize consumption (Eco), enable day-to-day driving (Standard) or exercise sports driving (Sport) and in which the personality really changes.

It has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, but also with Google Assistant, as well as the extension of that connectivity to the home from Google Home

As two thirds of its potential customers requested in a survey more technology, the new Juke has become the most connected Nissan in the history of the brand. It has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, but also with Google Assistant, as well as the extension of that connectivity to the home from Google Home. It includes functionalities such as information on the status of the vehicle, remote location and closing / opening, location of stolen vehicle, or being able to send the destination address to the on-board computer.

You can also count on the possibility of having a Wi-Fi network incorporated through the Orange operator, since the car incorporates a 4G card.

And as for the driving assistants closely linked to the automatic transmission, they make up a complete set in their 'Propilot' system with an automatic traffic jam, cruise control, lane maintenance assistance, dead angle warning, front brake emergency, traffic signal recognition and speed limiter.

The car could already be ordered since last September 5 and has more than one hundred 'blind' orders . Towards the 25th they will start arriving at the dealers and it will be possible to get a Juke Visia from 16,250 euros with discounts.
