Joe Kovacs looked calculated. Reigning world champion Tomas Walsh 22.90 in the first round, the fourth longest bump of all time, seemed to be enough of a gold medal. However, Kovacs had a growing earnings curve and after 20.90 in the first then finished with 22.91 and the gold ended with Joe Kovacs.

The nice bumps hail. After Kovacs made his last shock, compatriot Ryan Crouser struck with 22.90, the same length as new sailor Tomas Walsh.

In a ball finals already called the best of all time, it was a centimeter that separated the top trio and four men were over 22 meters.

- There are three bullets that are over 22.90, that should not happen, says SVT expert Kajsa Bergqvist after the final.
