After 0-0 at full-time, Chile won the South American rivalry on penalties, 5-4, after PSG's star goalkeeper Christiane Endler played the lead role, both during regular time and in penalties.

Endler saved two penalties and two more Brazilian men missed their attempts during the sentencing. Bitter for Brazil goalkeeper Aline Reis who took three penalties, but still lost.

The match in São Paulo was the final of a four-nation tournament where Brazil beat Argentina with a total of 5-0 in Pia Sundhage's first match as the national team.

Seven changes in the starting elf

Chile, on the other hand, became a harder nut to crack. The team, which Sweden beat 2-0 in the World Cup last summer, has a strong defensive and could withstand Brazil that had most of the game. Brazil lined up the chances, but over and over Endler was in the way. A ball passed the goalkeeper, but that goal was denied.

The players also had problems with the ground. The rain rained down during the match and large pools of water were formed on the pitch, which made it difficult to play.

Sundhage had washed in his starting eleven and picked up seven new players compared to the team that met Argentina. Superstar Marta did not play in the match. Nor was she against Argentina.
