Region Skåne's costs of temporary agency staff have increased from the beginning of the year to April 2023, compared with the same period in 2022 by SEK 49 million.

An effort is now being made to start up a "region-wide resource team" where nurses and specialist nurses will be recruited from the rental companies.

"We would rather invest in and develop our own staff and take responsibility for our workplaces. We do it better with our own employees," says Linda Allansson Wester (M), Chairman of the Personnel Board in Region Skåne.

Skåne has long waiting lists and many people in Skåne have to wait a long time to receive adequate medical care. The new investment should not have a negative impact, according to Linda Allansson Wester (M).

"Everything we do is to ensure that people in Skåne receive better and safer care. By having a higher staffing of our own staff, we can provide better care.

According to her, Region Skåne is actively recruiting at the moment and wants to be able to have new resource teams ready for the rental freeze that starts on October 1.

"Give us one more chance"

Region Skåne believes that the preparatory work they are doing now will improve both issues of work environment and salary and that those who left once upon a time will return to something better.

"We haven't done well enough backwards and we want to do better going forward," she says.

When the ban comes into effect later this autumn, temporary workers from temporary work agencies will only be used as a supplement when the workload becomes too heavy.
