Both inside and outside Ukraine, many are now awaiting the Ukrainian counteroffensive. Near the small town of Velyka Novosilka in southeastern Ukraine, Ukrainians are buried and waiting. About 5,000 inhabitants lived in the city before the war, but now only ruins remain.
Now the soldiers hope that they will soon be able to push back the Russians and avoid the daily artillery shelling.
"Right now, nothing is happening, but this morning it heated up. We'll wait until the evening and see what happens," said Ivan, one of the soldiers who has been living at the front for a year now.
