The United States, Canada, Great Britain, Germany, France, Italy and Japan, members of the so-called Group of Seven, have increased the volume of commitments for budgetary and economic support to Ukraine to $44 billion for the period from 2023 to early 2024. This is stated in a joint statement by the finance ministers and heads of central banks of the G7 countries.

This step made it possible to approve the program of the International Monetary Fund for the Kiev regime in the amount of more than $15,6 billion for a four-year period. According to the G7, the allocation of funds will lead to the fact that the Ukrainian authorities will ensure the functioning of the government, the provision of basic services and stabilize the economy.

"We reaffirm our unwavering support for Ukraine for as long as it takes, and unity in our condemnation of Russia," the document says.

It should be noted that in February, the allocation of $39 billion in financial assistance to Ukraine was initiated.

At the same time, EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell welcomed the supply of long-range weapons to Ukraine. "Russia strikes from a long distance, and Ukraine needs weapons that can fire at such a distance," TASS quoted him as saying.

On May 11, British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace announced that London had sent Storm Shadow long-range cruise missiles to Ukraine. The day before, the Armed Forces of Ukraine used two of these ammunition to shell Luhansk, as a result of which six children were injured. State Duma deputy Viktor Vodolatsky was also wounded.

Political scientist Alexander Dudchak stated that Western elites will continue to support the Kyiv regime.

"As long as Ukraine exists, this process will continue. As long as there is someone to send for slaughter, they will be supported by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, "the expert said in a conversation with RT.

At the same time, he noted that the leaders of the G7 countries do not take into account the opinion of the citizens of their countries, not noticing the demonstration against support for Ukraine. "We also see how the protesters are treated there - completely without ceremony. Everything happens in the best traditions of Western democracy," Dudchak concluded.

According to Alexei Chepa, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, the West does not intend to stop in supporting the Kyiv regime.

"They will continue to supply weapons, increasing their power. They will also continue to finance Ukraine, "the interlocutor of RT said.

Confrontation with Russia

The document following the meeting of finance ministers and heads of the G7 Central Bank states its readiness to resist any attempts to circumvent and undermine the sanctions measures of Western countries against Russia. It is indicated that the work on monitoring cross-border operations between the Russian Federation and other countries will be strengthened. Additional measures may also be taken in relation to the Russian financial sector, and the situation with the price ceiling for Russian crude oil and petroleum products remains under close supervision.

Finance ministers and heads of the Group of Seven central banks also called on other countries to join sanctions against Russia and stressed their intention to keep Russian assets frozen.

"We remain committed to promoting international cooperation... to combat the use of food and energy as weapons, which is disproportionately felt by low- and middle-income countries and vulnerable populations. In this regard, we strongly reject Russia's repeated false narrative about the spillover effects of our sanctions on food and energy security," the statement said.

Russian officials have repeatedly pointed out that Western sanctions pressure on Russia has not been successful. In March, President Vladimir Putin at the congress of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs stated that the "collapse of the Russian economy", as European experts expected, did not happen.

"However, life has decreed differently," the president said. - I remember the Russian proverb: "Do not dig another hole, otherwise you will fall into it yourself." That seems to be happening."

Later, the head of state stressed that the policy pursued by the leaders of Western countries in the future will have a negative impact on themselves.

"The elites of these countries do not always pursue policies aimed at the interests of their own peoples. It will come back to haunt them," Putin said, speaking at a meeting of the Council of Legislators.
