Eight months after becoming king, Charles III was crowned Saturday at Westminster Abbey, in a grandiose religious ceremony in front of nearly 2,300 guests.

Eight months after becoming king, Charles III was crowned Saturday at Westminster Abbey, in a grandiose religious ceremony in front of nearly 2,300 guests.

The Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby laid the crown of St Edward on the head of Charles III. Shortly before, the sovereign had taken an oath to serve his subjects and protect the Church of England of which he is the supreme head, and had received the anointing, protected from view by screens.
