According to SkyTg24, Conte came to Massa to participate in an event as part of the election campaign for the administrative elections in the Tuscany region.

When he met with local residents, one of the activists of the anti-vaccination movement approached the politician. The activist pretended to shake Conte's hand and slapped him in the face. Then he began to accuse Conte of the fact that he, as head of government, supported tough measures to combat coronavirus.

Law enforcement officers detained the attacker. It turned out to be 52-year-old Giulio Milani.

In April, former Indian MP Atiq Ahmad and his brother were shot dead in an attack in northern India during a live TV broadcast.
