At the new ash burial grove at the cemetery in Bräkne-Hoby, the cemetery administration has chosen to grow, among other things, potatoes.

This is not the first time this has been done at a cemetery – this summer the idea provoked strong reactions when the graves in Traryd in Småland were joined by potatoes and sugar snap peas.

And even in Bräkne-Hoby, the new cultivation provokes reactions.

"It feels a bit disgusting that you mix potatoes and currant bushes with ash and dead people. It doesn't feel so fresh," says Elias Palmqvist.

However, Adelheid Epple takes a different view and has nothing against the plantations.

"I just think it's nice. The dead would surely rejoice too.
