In recent days, almost 80 centimetres of new snow has fallen in Gördalen in northwestern Dalarna.

The village is known to be snowy but the setback now is unprecedented.

"It's not wise," says Gunilla Staff.

Coming even more snow

The family previously managed SMHI's official measuring station for snow depth there, but now they have an unofficial larger measuring stick out in the yard.

It shows a snow depth of 120 centimeters at lunchtime on Tuesday.

Katterjåkk has officially seen the most snow in Sweden with 124 centimeters.

The forecast is that it will snow for another three days in Gördalen.

"We live on the snow, but this wasn't fun. It's almost May," says Gunilla Staff.
