Kiruna municipality has wanted to build the hospital next to Kiruna's future travel centre – at Nikkalouktarondellen. The region, in turn, wanted to build the hospital at the Tuolluvaara Towers.
"It's important not to lock yourself in"
The dispute over where the hospital should be located has been protracted. How will you catch up in that work?
"It's important not to get locked into something just for the sake of principle. From the municipality's side, we say that it doesn't really matter where the hospital is located – the important thing is that it gets in place, says Kiruna's one municipal commissioner, Emilia Töyrä (S).
Want to build as soon as possible
Töyrä continues:
"Exactly where the hospital ends up in relation to the city centre is not that important. Therefore, we are prepared to look at more solutions – everything to get the new hospital ready as soon as possible.
