In Ukraine, where the disposal of buildings and other debris destroyed by Russia's military invasion is an issue, Japan provided heavy machinery for construction, and a handover ceremony was held at the site on the 11th.

The ceremony held in Irpin, near the capital Kyiv, was attended by officials from both countries, including Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine, Kubulakov, Ambassador Kunikori Matsuda of the Embassy of the Japan Embassy in Ukraine, and representatives of JICA = Japan International Cooperation Agency.

Seven units of heavy construction equipment were handed over to the Ukrainian side as the first step in support from the Japan, which is responsible for the removal of debris.

At the beginning of the military invasion, many houses and infrastructure facilities were destroyed in Irpin and other areas that were heavily attacked by the Russian army, and how to smoothly remove the rubble has become an issue for restoration and reconstruction.

Kubrakov, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure, said, "The demand for debris removal is coming from all over the country, and I would like to express my sincere gratitude for the support from Japan."

Ambassador Matsuda said, "There is cooperation unique to Japan who have experienced recovery from the Great East Japan Earthquake and other disasters, and I sincerely hope for the earliest possible recovery and reconstruction."

From the Japan side, another 7 heavy equipment will be provided to Irpin and will also be sent to southern Kherson and other places in the future.
