Ten people from the Ukrainian government and local governments, who were invited to Japan by JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency) to support the recovery of Ukraine, visited Higashimatsushima City.On the 19th, they met with Mayor Iwao Atsumi at City Hall.



Mayor Atsumi gave his speech by saying, ``I feel that the situation in Ukraine is similar to the situation suffered by the tsunami.I hope that our city's recovery efforts in rubble disposal and town development will be of use in Ukraine's post-war recovery.''

After this, the person in charge announced


that the amount of debris generated in Higashimatsushima City amounted to approximately 1.09 million tons, equivalent to 110 years of municipal waste, and that the


disaster victims were asked to help dispose of it. He explained that they separated the debris into 19 items and were able to recycle 97% of the total debris.



He also introduced that this treatment method was later called the ``Higashi Matsushima method'' and has been adopted at disaster sites in other regions, as it created employment for disaster victims and reduced treatment costs. I did.



A representative from the Ukrainian government said, ``Many cities in Ukraine have been destroyed.We want today's inspection to be useful for recovery and reconstruction, so that the cities will be better than before.''
