The parties have agreed on a new two-year agreement that provides for a salary increase of 7.4 percent over the two-year period. It thus follows the industrial unions' mark, which sets the framework for other contract negotiations.

– This high level of the label will pose challenges for many of our member companies in the hospitality industry, not least considering that the pandemic hit very hard, says Torbjörn Granevärn, says Visita's negotiation manager to the radio.

"Are satisfied"

Malin Ackholt, HRF's union chairman, says in a press release that the Hotel and Restaurant Union is positive about the outcome.

"We in the Hotel and Restaurant Union are pleased with this agreement, which gives us members of HRF good salary increases. We have had constructive negotiations with our counterpart, Visita. There are good conditions, according to current forecasts, that we will be back to real wage increases in the second year of the agreement," she says.

Malin Ackholt also points to a number of improvements that follow the new agreement.

"The ability to combine working life with family life has long been one of the major shortcomings of the hospitality industry. This agreement improves the conditions for combining working life with family life while making it safer to work in the hospitality industry," she continues.
