Olympic (2021), world (2022) and European (2022) champion in the specialty, "Mondo" Duplantis completed his 42nd competition at six meters or more on Friday, the second of the winter after his 6, 10 m in Uppsala (Sweden) a week ago.

In Berlin, Duplantis passed the first four bars at 5.60 m, 5.82 m, 5.91 m and 6.06 m on his first try, before blocking in his world record attempt.

He was alone in contention after 5.91m since the Filipino Ernest John Obiena and the Australian Kurtis Marschall stopped at 5.82m.

Duplantis still has two other competitions on its program this winter to try to improve its world record (6.21 m set on July 24, 2022 in Eugene), its stated objective: Liévin in a week (February 15) and Clermont-Ferrand ten days later (February 25).

Afterwards, he will decide on a possible participation in the European Indoor Championships in Istanbul (March 2-5).
