US President Joe Biden announced that he had no knowledge of the content of secret official documents, dating back to the period when he was Vice President during the era of Barack Obama (2009-2017), and they were finally found in a research center in Washington from which he sometimes worked.

On the sidelines of an “American-Canadian-Mexican” summit held in Mexico City, Biden told reporters: “I was informed of what was found, and I was surprised when I learned that documents related to the government were transferred to that office, but I do not know what those documents contain.”

He added that his lawyers would cooperate fully during the examination of these documents, expressing his hope that this examination process would be completed soon.

Biden explained that these documents were found when a lawyer examined the contents of the office at the University of Pennsylvania.

Biden pointed out that as soon as his lawyers discovered that some of these documents were confidential, they did what they had to do, and contacted the Archives Authority to hand them over to them.

And the White House announced, the day before yesterday, that Biden's lawyers found these documents in November, while they were emptying Biden's office at a research center in Washington affiliated with the University of Pennsylvania, and handed them over to the archives responsible for preserving this type of official document.

"The White House is cooperating with the National Archives and the Department of Justice," Biden's legal advisor, Richard Sauber, said in a statement, and indicated that the classified documents were found in a locked safe at the center.

He added, "The documents were not the subject of any request, and since their delivery to the archives, Biden's lawyers have continued to cooperate in order to ensure that the archive includes all the archives of the Obama administration."

CBS News quoted an unnamed source as saying that the matter is related to 12 documents, none of which contain nuclear secrets.
