Fewer than 20 secret documents in the Biden case, while there are about 300 documents in the Trump case (Reuters - Archive)

The Washington Post reported - yesterday, Tuesday - that a report prepared by a US prosecutor includes criticism of the way President Joe Biden and his aides handled “top secret” official documents, but does not recommend any prosecutions in this case.

In a report yesterday, the newspaper said that this report prepared by Attorney General Robert Hoare in charge of investigating this case will be published in the next few days.

Attorney General Merrick Garland appointed Hur as special prosecutor in this case after official documents classified as “top secret” dating back to the period when Biden was vice president of former President Barack Obama were found in 2022 in an old office for Biden in Delaware, Ohio.

Similar to what happened with the current president, investigators found documents classified as “top secret” at the residence of his Republican predecessor, Donald Trump, but this billionaire, the most likely candidate to compete with Biden in the upcoming presidential elections, is being criminally prosecuted because of this matter on charges of negligence in dealing with secret documents.

Trump pleaded not guilty to this charge, for which he was referred for trial before the federal judiciary based on a decision issued by another special prosecutor, Jack Smith, who accused the former president of endangering national security by keeping documents related, especially to nuclear issues, after leaving the White House.

The former president kept these documents - including the files of the Department of Defense (the Pentagon) and the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) - at his residence in the Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida.

According to the indictment, some of these documents were stacked randomly and some were placed on the floor. Unlike Trump, Biden admitted that an “error” had occurred in his management of these documents, which were “unintentionally” taken from their place.

According to the Washington Post, there are major differences between the cases of Biden and Trump regarding the issue of secret documents. According to the newspaper, the number of documents related to Biden’s case is less than 20, while there are about 300 documents in the case of his predecessor.
