A Palestinian was shot dead by the Israeli army after being chased in the West Bank

Israeli forces killed a Palestinian who the army says opened fire on one of its outposts in the West Bank on Wednesday, the latest in a string of deadly incidents over the past year.

The Israeli army said in a statement that soldiers carrying out regular activity in the area fired live bullets and started chasing when a car driver opened fire at one of his positions near the settlement of Ofra.

The army added that the suspect got out of the car during the chase and opened fire at the soldiers, who responded with live bullets, killing him.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health confirmed the man's death but did not provide details of the incident.
