The King of Bahrain assigns the Crown Prince to form a new government

Salman bin Hamad will start consultations to select the names nominated for the ministry.

Bahrain's Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, submitted the ministry's resignation to King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, who approved it.

And the Bahraini monarch issued a royal order appointing the Crown Prince as prime minister, and tasked him with nominating members for the new cabinet, in accordance with the text of Article (46) of the constitution, according to the Bahrain News Agency (BNA).

In his letter to the King, the Crown Prince stated that he would start consultations to select the names nominated for the ministry, in preparation for presenting them to King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, to take his decision regarding them.

Bahrain witnessed parliamentary and municipal elections on November 12 (the main polling day) and November 19 (the run-off) to elect 40 members of the House of Representatives and 30 members of the Municipal Council.

The final results of the two rounds of elections resulted in the victory of 8 women in the House of Representatives, in what is considered the largest number of women to reach the parliament in the history of the country.

It is noteworthy that the government submitted its resignation under Article 33 of the Bahrain Constitution, which requires the re-formation of the government at the beginning of each legislative term.
