Louis Van Gaal was in suspense until the

84th minute when Gakpo managed to breach Senegal's goal.

Up to that moment the attacks of the "orange" have been neutralized or marked by too many mistakes.

In the end, at the Al-Thumama stadium in Doha, it was 2-0 for the Netherlands, a result

secured by Klaassen's doubling in the 99th minute.

In the first fraction, in the fifth, Holland was immediately dangerous with Gakpo who, with his deep insertion, almost failed to find his teammate Janssen in the center of the area.

On the sixteenth header by Gakpo himself, Blind arrives with the right timing on the opposite side and sends a header to the back.

3 minutes after the resumption of the Netherlands that sinks on the right, the ball reaches De Jong in the area, one dribble too many and there is no more time for shooting.

The "oranges" conquer territorial supremacy, but struggle to find the right passages, and above all there are too many errors on both fronts.

In the 40th minute, the last action to write down in the notebook, Berghuis arrives at the shot from 20 meters;

the ball flies over the crossbar not by much.

SECOND HALF

The leitmotif at the start of the second half does not seem to change, with the two teams apparently wanting to settle for a draw.

In the 65th minute Dia is served deep and ends with first intention, Noppert is attentive and deflects for a corner.

8 minutes after a strong but central effort from Guye;

the Dutch goalkeeper rejects.

It's all useless though because an offside is signaled.

From the 70th minute the swirl of changes intensifies, which in the first instance do not change the inertia of the match.

It's just an impression, however, because in the 84th minute the game unlocked with the goal of the "orange": De Jong's cross from the left, Senegal's defense was rather firm and Gakpo anticipated Mendy with a header to score.

A quarter of an hour later (a new maxi recovery after that of England - Iran) Van Gaal's team locks the lead: Depay engages the Senegal goalkeeper who pushes back almost on the feet of Klaassen quick to inflate the net.

Senegal remains empty-handed;

Africans not very effective forward and without noteworthy ideas.

Impossible not to underline a side note: colorful stands thanks to the supporters of both teams;

sectors "painted" in orange and the Senegalese tricolor that made the Al-Thumama stadium in the Qatari capital as colorful as ever.
