The lifeless body of a 12-year-old child was found on Saturday on the banks of the Huveaune river, in Marseille, carrying "stab wounds", the prosecution announced to AFP.
The child, autistic according to his uncle and aunt, who spoke to AFP on the spot, would have escaped the supervision of his mother on Friday, during a walk.
His disappearance was immediately reported to the police by the family, who themselves discovered the body on Saturday.
