Thousands of demonstrators belonging to Islamic political forces gathered in front of the headquarters of the UN mission in Khartoum, in protest against the expected political settlement between the military and civilians, and against foreign interference in the country's internal affairs.

The demonstrators, carrying national flags, chanted slogans against the forces of freedom and change (the Central Council) and the head of the United Nations mission, Volker Peretz, and demanded that Western embassies not interfere in the preparation of the transitional constitution.

The demonstrators also raised banners saying "No to foreign interference", "Expel UN envoy Volker Peretz", "No to the new constitutional document", "No to political settlement" and "No to agents".

The police forces were stationed close to the place of the protest, without being exposed to the protesters, who ended their stand and dispersed without violence.

In his speech to the demonstrators, the head of the State of Law and Development Party, Muhammad Ali al-Jazouli, stressed the need not to allow the Forces of Freedom and Change to return to power again.

He added that the exclusion led to political and security fluidity, which leads to the comprehensive collapse of the state and the loss of the homeland.

Al-Jazouli called for defending national sovereignty, liberating the country from malicious foreign interference, and building balanced foreign policies.

He also called for the formation of a non-partisan national government to manage the transitional period, and the holding of free and fair elections within a period not exceeding 18 months.

The demonstration came at the invitation of the "Al-Mahlo" National Congress (the former ruler) and Islamic currents under the slogan "The Parade of Dignity".

The tripartite mechanism (the United Nations, the African Union and the Intergovernmental Authority on Development “IGAD”), and the Quartet of the United States, Britain, Saudi Arabia and the UAE, are active in preparing a political settlement between the military and civilians, on the basis of the draft transitional constitution prepared by the Sudanese Bar Association.

On October 24, European countries, the United States of America and Canada emphasized the importance of the “transitional draft constitution for 2022” through a statement marking the one-year anniversary of exceptional measures imposed by the army chief, Lieutenant-General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan on October 25, 2021, and the rejectionists considered them a “coup.” militarily".

On the tenth of last September, the Bar Association's steering committee handed over the draft transitional constitution to the tripartite mechanism.

And the "Transitional Draft Constitution for the year 2022" includes the nature of the state, the supremacy of the constitution and the rule of law, the document of fundamental rights and freedoms, the tasks of the transitional period, the federal system of government, and the structures and composition of the transitional authority.
