“Taking into account the terrorist attack carried out by the Kyiv regime”: Russia announced the suspension of participation in the grain deal

The Russian side suspends participation in the implementation of agreements on the export of agricultural products from Ukrainian ports.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the decision was made after the Kyiv regime, with the participation of British specialists, carried out a terrorist attack on October 29 against ships of the Black Sea Fleet and civilian ships involved in ensuring the security of the “grain corridor”.

In turn, the Russian Foreign Ministry stressed that a massive attack on ships that were on the roadstead in Sevastopol was carried out using air and sea drones under the cover of a humanitarian corridor organized as part of the implementation of the "Black Sea initiative" to export Ukrainian agricultural products.

“In connection with the actions of the Ukrainian armed forces, which were led by British specialists ... the Russian side cannot guarantee the safety of civilian dry cargo ships participating in the Black Sea Initiative, and is suspending its implementation from today for an indefinite period,” the diplomatic agency said in a statement.

The Foreign Ministry noted that Russian representatives in the Joint Coordination Center in Istanbul, which controls the transportation of Ukrainian food, have already received appropriate instructions.

Recall that the so-called grain deal was concluded on July 22.

It involves the opening of Ukrainian Black Sea ports for the export of grain and the removal of restrictions that affect Russian export supplies of food and fertilizers.

Commenting on the attack on the Sevastopol Bay, Lieutenant-General Igor Konashenkov, spokesman for the Russian Defense Ministry, said that the preparation of this terrorist attack and the training of military personnel of the Ukrainian 73rd Special Naval Operations Center were carried out under the guidance of British specialists located in the city of Ochakovo.

He specified that nine aerial UAVs and seven autonomous maritime drones were involved in the attack.

All of them were destroyed.

As a result of the attack, the sea minesweeper Ivan Golubets and the bonnet barrier in Yuzhnaya Bay received minor damage.

Earlier it became known that during the attack, according to the Flightradar24 portal, an American RQ-4B Global Hawk strategic reconnaissance drone flew into the area from a NATO airbase in Sicily in neutral airspace over the Black Sea for a long time.

The Ministry of Defense also noted that, according to available information, representatives of the said unit of the British Navy also took part in the planning, provision and implementation of a terrorist act in the Baltic Sea to undermine the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines.

Attention of the world community

Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova stressed that Moscow intends to draw the attention of the world community to a series of terrorist attacks committed against the Russian Federation in the Black and Baltic Seas.

The issue, in particular, will be raised in the UN Security Council.

According to Dmitry Polyansky, First Deputy Representative of the Russian Federation to the World Organization, the Russian side notified UN Secretary General António Guterres of the suspension of its participation in the grain deal and requested that the Security Council be held on Monday, October 31.

Stephane Dujarric, spokesman for the UN Secretary-General, said the organization is in contact with the Russian authorities on the matter.

He also stressed the importance of all parties refraining from any steps that could jeopardize "a critical humanitarian initiative with a clear positive impact on food access for millions of people around the world."

And Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba called on the international community to demand that Moscow fulfill its obligations under the grain deal.

In response, Maria Zakharova said: “The Kyiv regime does not need world stability and food security, otherwise everyone will forget about Zelensky and Kuleb.

Therefore, they do everything to remind themselves of themselves with terrible methods.

Recall that the Russian side has repeatedly criticized the implementation of the deal.

On October 28, a Foreign Ministry spokeswoman said that Moscow regularly informs the UN about the failure to comply with the second part of it, concerning Russian grain and fertilizers.

So Zakharova reacted to Dujarric's statement, according to which the world organization does not monitor transactions for the export of Russian fertilizers.

In mid-October, Russian presidential aide Yury Ushakov pointed out that restrictions on the export of grain and fertilizers had not been lifted from Russia.

“The second part of this deal is completely unfulfilled, and we are constantly reminded of our offer, which consists in the fact that 300 thousand tons of fertilizers are in various European ports and no one can pick them up yet, although we offer to distribute these fertilizers free of charge among the poorest countries.

But so far they do not get access to these fertilizers,” he stressed.

At the same time, the Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the UN Office and other international organizations in Geneva, Gennady Gatilov, in an interview with Reuters, said that the Russian side had sent a letter to the UN Secretary General with a request to take action against non-compliance with the agreements on the grain deal.
