This distinguished position of Egypt in the heart of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God rest his soul, his state and his sons, is the fruit of a close relationship between the two countries that extends back to before the declaration of the union in 1971. It brought together the late Egyptian President Gamal Abdel Nasser and the late Sheikh Zayed, a relationship It is characterized by cooperation and mutual respect between the two brotherly peoples.

During the sixties, Egypt sent educational and medical missions, along with many distinguished cadres of doctors, engineers, teachers and media professionals, who actively contributed to the development of Abu Dhabi and participated in the preparation for the establishment of the Federation.

While Sheikh Zayed, may his soul rest in peace, provided support to Egypt and its people in the aftermath of the 1967 war, based on his sense of pan-Arabism and his belief in Egypt's pivotal Arab and regional role, and contributed to supporting Egypt's efforts in reconstruction and empowering vital sectors in the state, in addition to supporting the Egyptian armed forces.

This city was not the only one bearing the name “Hakim Al Arab” in Egypt. In 1995, the city of Sheikh Zayed was established in the Egyptian Giza Governorate, about 30 kilometers from the center of Cairo, with a grant from the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development, with an area of ​​38.4 square kilometers. A statue of Sheikh Zayed in the city is one of its most prominent landmarks, and a symbol of the pride and appreciation of Egypt and its people for this venerable ruler throughout the ages.
