Official Syrian media reported on Friday evening that the air defenses had confronted Israeli missiles in the sky over Damascus and the southern region.

The Syrian official news agency (SANA) quoted a military source as saying, "Around 23:03 on Friday evening, the Israeli enemy carried out an air aggression with rockets from the northeastern direction of Lake Tiberias, targeting some points in the vicinity of the city of Damascus."

The source added that the aggression's missiles were confronted and most of them were shot down, and the losses were limited to material, without additional details.

Last month, 5 Syrian soldiers were killed in an Israeli missile attack near Damascus airport, and Israeli raids in June caused the Damascus and Aleppo airports to be out of service for about two weeks.

So far, there has been no comment from the Israeli side on what was reported by the Syrian News Agency.

During the past years, Israel launched hundreds of air strikes in Syria, which targeted Syrian army positions, Iranian targets, and Lebanese Hezbollah targets.

Israel rarely confirms carrying out strikes in Syria, but it reiterates that it will continue to confront what it describes as Iran's attempts to establish its military presence there.
