The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai reported that it had seized 1,610 forged travel documents, from the beginning of last year until the end of August of this year, stressing that it had introduced the latest technologies to detect document fraud and facilitate work procedures.
The Director of the General Administration of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai, Lieutenant-General Mohamed Ahmed Al-Marri, confirmed to "Emirates Today" that the administration is keen to enhance the capabilities and expertise of the employees responsible for dealing with forged documents, so it has provided rehabilitation programs and assistance programs that contribute to serving those jobs, stressing that my officers Passports have special capabilities, competencies and functional skills that enable them to control forged passports and the plagiarism process, in addition to conducting advanced training programs and courses in detecting forgery.
He explained that the employees from the front lines at the air, sea and land ports are making exceptional efforts in receiving the country's guests through the Dubai ports through diligent work around the clock within a dynamic work system.
He added that the passport officers have the responsibility to make the first and perhaps the last impression of the country's guests coming through Dubai, as they reflect the bright image of the Emirates with their warm smile and upscale treatment, which leads to leaving a good and unforgettable impact.
He stated that the front-line employees seek to facilitate travelers' procedures through speed of completion and providing the maximum levels of security coupled with a sense of safety, to achieve the element of protection for the country's and Dubai ports, and to limit the access of violators and wanted persons to the country's land.
Al-Marri said that the state in general, and Dubai in particular, has achieved unprecedented achievements by providing the highest standards of global services and applying best practices, which calls for redoubling efforts to preserve and build on these gains, by providing distinguished services to travelers as a basic pillar, understanding their needs and aspirations, and gaining public awareness of their behavior. Providing services through channels consistent with their needs, and supporting them in finding innovative solutions to the challenges they may face while trying to obtain the service.
He pointed out that one of the most important roles of passport officers is to detect forged travel documents, and they were able to seize 761 forged travel documents during the past year, while this year, until the end of August, 849 were seized. Wanted and offenders state land.
He stressed that the first level of passport officers in the air port sector, numbering 1,357 employees distributed at Dubai airports, are qualified to know if the passport is forged through advanced devices that reveal the signs of document protection methods.
