His Highness said, in a tweet on Twitter yesterday: "We join the world in mourning the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth."

His Highness added, "Queen Elizabeth is a global icon who represented the finest qualities of her nation and people... Her amazing life in service and duty towards the United Kingdom is unparalleled in our modern world."

The British flag was flown at half-mast over Buckingham Palace, to which large crowds flocked yesterday evening, after the royal palace announced the death of Queen Elizabeth II at the age of 96.

The new King Charles said: "The passing of my beloved mother, Her Majesty the Queen, is one of the saddest moments for me and all the members of my family."

He added, “It is with deep sadness that we mourn the passing of a beloved queen and a dear mother.

And I know that the grief of her passing will pervade Britain and the countries of the Commonwealth of Nations, and will be felt by countless people around the world.”

Elizabeth II assumed the throne in 1952, and became the longest-reigning British monarch on the throne, surpassing Queen Victoria, and her era was a symbol of stability and continuity in a changing world.

In addition, the White House expressed its sympathy with the family of Queen Elizabeth II and with "the people of the United Kingdom," according to what was announced by US presidential spokeswoman Karen Jean-Pierre.

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres praised the late Queen of Britain's "virtue, grace and dedication," noting her "reassuring presence over decades of great change."

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg expressed his "deep sadness" at the Queen's departure, and saw in her an example of "leadership" and "a public commitment above private interests".

In early June, the British celebrated for four days the 70th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II's accession to the throne, during which she appeared from the balcony of Buckingham Palace to greet tens of thousands of people.

Weeks later, she went out several times in public in Scotland, and appeared smiling with a cane during a parade of the armed forces in Edinburgh at the end of June.

The health of Queen Elizabeth II, who was very popular in the country, has caused concern in the recent period.

The Queen ascended the throne on February 6, 1952, at the age of 25, after the death of her father, King George VI.

She has been a widow since her husband Prince Philip passed away in April 2021, just before he turned 100.

 Mohammed bin Zayed:

"She was a symbol of wisdom and tolerance and was respected and appreciated by the world."

Mohamed Ben Rached:

"A global icon who represented the finest qualities of her nation and people."
