On September 6, local time, Truss met with Queen Elizabeth II in Scotland.

British media reported that this means that Truss officially took over as British Prime Minister.

Truss, 47, is the third female prime minister in British history after Margaret Thatcher and Theresa May, and the 15th British prime minister during the reign of Queen Elizabeth II.

A Buckingham Palace spokesman previously said the Queen would appoint a new prime minister at the Scottish resort of Balmoral due to continued "restricted mobility".

And it breaks with years of precedent for the royal family, where the queen usually appoints the prime minister at Buckingham Palace or Windsor Castle.

In 2010, Truss entered the political arena as a member of Congress. Due to his high popularity in the Conservative Party, he has held important positions in education, justice and other departments in just over ten years.

On September 5, 2022, Graham Brady, chairman of the "1922 Committee", a Conservative member of the British House of Commons, announced that Truss was elected leader of the British Conservative Party and will take over as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom after being approved by Queen Elizabeth II.
