Germany will deliver new weapons worth around 500 million euros to Ukraine, part of which in 2023, a spokesman for the German government said on Tuesday.

Among the deliveries include three Iris-T air defense systems, "a dozen recovery tanks, 20 rocket launchers mounted on pick-ups", as well as "precision ammunition and anti-drone devices", detailed this spokesperson with AFP.

In total, these deliveries will reach an amount of around 500 million euros, according to this spokesperson, specifying that a large part will be delivered in 2023.

Slow deliveries

Chancellor Olaf Scholz and his government, which decided to invest 100 billion euros to modernize the German army, in a worrying state, have been targeted for six months by numerous critics, in particular from the Ukrainian authorities, for the timidity of their arms deliveries to kyiv.

Berlin had already announced in early June the delivery of "Iris-T" air defense systems, developed by the German manufacturer Diehl and likely, according to Olaf Scholz, to "protect an entire large city against Russian air strikes".
