A malfunctioning coffee machine forced a German airline Lufthansa on a flight from New Jersey to Frankfurt to make an abrupt landing in Boston, the airline said.
The smell of burning was noticed in the first class kitchen as the plane was on its way to its destination last night.
The pilot decided to land in Boston because the source of the smell was not initially clear.
A Lufthansa spokesman said, "Safety is always a top priority."
