Washington: Pelosi "has the right" to visit Taiwan, and there is no reason for China to create a "crisis"

A senior US official said Monday that it is the "right" of US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who is on an Asian tour, to visit Taiwan, saying that there is no reason for China to create a "crisis" from this visit, which is still uncertain.

"The Speaker of the House has the right to visit Taiwan. There is no reason for Beijing to turn a potential visit consistent with long-term US policies into some kind of crisis," White House spokesman for strategic issues John Kirby told reporters.
