• USA Biden offers consolation to the relatives of the Uvalde massacre and an investigation into police action is announced

At least one woman died on Tuesday and two men were injured in a shooting at

Xavier University,

in the state of Luisana (USA), local police reported.

According to the police in New Orleans (Louisiana), where the university campus is located, the event took place

in a parking lot,

next to a facility where a

graduation ceremony for high

school students had been held.

The Police have not revealed so far

the identity or age of the victims

and continue with the investigation.

The shooting took place at 11:45 local time (16:45 GMT).

"Detectives are gathering information to identify the person(s) responsible for this crime and the motive. Multiple subjects were taken into custody at the scene for questioning. No arrests have been made as of this writing." The city police department said in a statement.

On May 24, 19 children and two teachers were killed in a shooting at a school in Uvalde, Texas, in which the attacker also died.

The president of the United States,

Joe Biden,

promised this Tuesday that he will meet with members of Congress to discuss the issue of gun control, after what happened in Uvalde, the deadliest school shooting in the United States since Sandy Hook, in which 27 people, including the attacker, died in December 2012.
