The police were alerted to a villa outside Eskilstuna on Thursday evening where a man in his 50s is said to have behaved threateningly towards a woman.

The atmosphere at the scene must have been aggressive and threatening and the man refused to be arrested.

The police then used pepper spray against the man to get control of the situation.

- He did not give up and the police then chose to send a police dog on him, says police spokesman Thomas Agnevik.

Suspected of several crimes

But, according to the police, the riot continued and the man took a stranglehold on the police dog and held on.

The police officers then had to intervene to save their four-legged colleague and in connection with the intervention, one of the police officers also injured his hand.

The police patrol was then able to handcuff the man who is now in custody on suspicion of unlawful threats, violence against an official, violent resistance and minor drug offenses.
