Chairman of the State Duma Viacheslav Volodin explained that "we are talking about changes in the laws governing the payment of child benefits and sick pay."

So, he said that one of the amendments concerns the amount of benefits to women who are registered in the early stages of pregnancy.

Volodin said that "the size of such an allowance will be half the subsistence level, and from July 1, those who have an average per capita income in the family that does not exceed the subsistence level in the region will receive it."

The second amendment, as the speaker of the State Duma said, "introduces from July 1 of this year a monthly allowance for a child aged eight to sixteen, inclusive."

“This benefit will be paid to parents in single-parent families with incomes below the subsistence level in the region,” he said.

Another initiative involves one hundred percent payment of sick leave for caring for children under the age of seven, regardless of the length of service of the parents.

According to Volodin, "this will primarily affect mothers with little experience, and will help support young families with preschool children."

Earlier, the State Duma submitted initiatives to implement the president's message.

On April 21, during his address to the Federal Assembly, Putin announced the introduction of additional support measures for families with incomes below the subsistence level for children from eight to 16 years old inclusive.

He also offered to pay families with schoolchildren and future first graders 10 thousand rubles per child at a time.
