This Monday, the Malian administration functioned almost as a public holiday.
The public service offices were deserted, especially in the administrative city of the capital which includes most of the ministries.
In neighborhoods to the east of Bamako, many civil servants preferred to take care of the maintenance of their vehicles rather than going to work.
For this first day of strike which should last four days, the banks remained closed.
No official financial transactions carried out.
Inside the country, the strike was also widely followed, but as in the capital, the minimum service was respected.
Hamidou Boly, representative of ECOWAS in Bamako, as well as a representative of Minusma met the officials of the UNTM to play the good offices Gentlemen.
The trade unionists have taken good note, but are asking the government to make a big effort, in particular on the harmonization of salaries and bonuses for civil servants.
