As a countermeasure against the new coronavirus, the government has decided to issue a state of emergency based on the Special Measures Law targeting Tokyo, Saitama, Chiba, and Kanagawa on the 7th. It is adjusted in the direction of about a month.

On the 5th, Prime Minister Suga met with Minister for Economic Revitalization Nishimura and Minister of Health, Labor and Welfare Tamura at the Prime Minister's Office, and received a report on the status of consideration of measures to be taken under the state of emergency.

From the 8th to the 31st of this month, the 1 metropolitan area and 3 prefectures will advance the request for shortening business hours by 8 pm, and from the 12th, the target will be expanded to all restaurants.

Based on this, in order to reduce the risk of infection at restaurants under the declaration, the government will scrutinize the business formats that are requested to shorten business hours, and will provide cooperation to businesses that respond to the request. We are urgently considering measures to ensure effectiveness, such as the expansion of the system.

In addition, to reduce the risk of infection at restaurants, the promotion of telework will be a major pillar, and we will request the cooperation of companies with the aim of reducing the number of employees by 70%.

In preparation for the issuance of a state of emergency, on the 7th, the government asked for opinions from an advisory committee made up of infectious disease experts on the details of specific measures, and then Prime Minister Suga took measures by the government. I will declare it at the headquarters.
