A Yemeni force backed by Saudi Arabia detained, today, Thursday, the commander of the Fifth Military Region in the Yemeni army, Major General Yahya Salah, and two Saudi officers from joint operations, in the Haradh area of Hajjah Governorate, northwest of Yemen, according to a military source.

The source explained that the officers ’detention came to demand the payment of salaries for the unit’s members who were late for months, indicating that Major General Salah came to Haradh - the border with Saudi Arabia - to contain the anger of the soldiers, although they do not follow him, but rather the Saudi forces.

The source added that soldiers in the Haradh area demonstrated earlier Thursday to protest the delay in payment of their salaries by Saudi Arabia for several months.

On the other hand, Riyadh announced that its defenses had shot down an explosive drone launched by the Houthis towards civilian sites in the southern region of Saudi Arabia on Thursday evening, and there was no comment from the Houthis in Yemen on this announcement.

Shabwa Sons Association

Separately, a number of families of victims affected by the violations of the Emirati forces and the armed groups that support them in Yemen announced the establishment of the Shabwa Sons Association.

The founding statement affirmed that the League’s goals are to uncover the truth, punish criminals, and redress the victims and their families through the judiciary alone.

The League called on the Yemeni government to do its duty and protect society from the tampering of armed groups outside the law of the state.

The families of the victims accuse the UAE-backed Shabwani Elite Militia - which was spread in some areas of the province - of committing violations against the population, including murder, enforced disappearance and kidnapping, on the orders of the Emirati forces.
