According to the agency, one of the reasons not to abandon the gas pipeline is the support of the project from the German industry and "deep ties with Russia."

In addition, one of the factors of Berlin's determination regarding Nord Stream 2 is "open US hostility" towards the project.

Among the reasons not to abandon construction was also named the need to pay compensation to companies in the event of a project failure.

Earlier, Germany assessed the likely consequences in the event of Europe's abandonment of Nord Stream 2.

So, according to the head of the Eastern Committee of the German Economy, Oliver Hermes, individual European companies can lose billions of euros, and the refusal to complete the project will lead to the loss of jobs.

The State Duma also assessed the possible consequences for Europe if the gas pipeline was abandoned.
