As noted in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ukrainian side regards the holding of this parade without the consent of the Ukrainian side "as another violation of the norms of international law by the Russian side."

"A corresponding note of protest has been sent to the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs," the statement says.

On July 26, in major port cities, solemn events dedicated to the Day of the Russian Navy took place. This year, the parade was first held in the Republic of Dagestan with the participation of ships and military equipment of the Caspian Flotilla. At the holiday in Sevastopol, an action "Immortal regiment" was organized. 

Crimea became a Russian region following a March 2014 referendum in which most residents voted for reunification with Russia.
