“We directly transmitted all the information on the case to the Russian Foreign Ministry on April 13,” RIA Novosti quoted Rebecca Ross as spokeswoman for the US diplomatic mission in Russia.

She stated that “as of April 6, 51 Russian students remain in the United States under programs sponsored by the business sector.”

“As far as we understand, some of these students, through program sponsors, expressed a desire to return to Russia, they work on this issue directly with the organizers,” Ross said.

According to a spokeswoman, the State Department "is working to ensure that all foreign citizens in the United States have access to complete and timely information about the possibility of returning to their homeland."

Earlier, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, said that several dozen Russian schoolchildren were in a “difficult situation” in the United States, who left Russia last fall to study in American schools.
